Western Beat was a comfortable winner at Newcastle this afternoon for top amateur rider Serena Brotherton. Returned at odds of 6/1 she took the 'Top Odds Every Day With Betuk Amateur Jockeys' Handicap' to record her second career victory.
Serena has now won 34 races for Mick Easterby, her first victory coming way back in 1999 when Flower O'Cannie won the Queen Mother's Cup at York.
