Sondad recorded his third career win this afternoon at Ascot by taking the 'Peroni Nastro Azzurro 0.0% Blue Ribbon Handicap' under Joanna Mason. The son of Washington DC came home two and a quarter lengths ahead of Strike to land the odds at 6/1. Hitting the front a furlong out he drew clear at the line, his first time visor helping him concentrate on the job in hand.

Owned by Gary Routledge and named after his Bradford-based packaging firm, the son of Washington DC is very much a horse on an upward curve. Boasting a record of three wins from eight starts he's lightly raced and as a young horse he was given time to grow into his huge frame. The patience of his owners has been rewarded and we're all looking forward to the rest of the season with Sondad who looks sure to win again.

In a clean sweep of the prizes, Sondad's groom Ella Duggan also won the best turned out prize.
