 Catterick Racecourse stands at Catterick Bridge in North Yorkshire and has hosted racing since 1783, with informal meetings in the area going back even earlier. It developed into a permanent course in 1813 and the grandstand built in 1906 still forms the core of the main stand today, albeit modernised over time.

The venue is a dual‑purpose track, staging both Flat and National Hunt racing throughout the year, with around twenty‑seven fixtures split between the two codes. It is known for its friendly, informal atmosphere and for being one of the busiest racecourses in the region.

The track is left‑handed, sharp and undulating, a little over a mile around, with downhill sections on both the round course and the five‑furlong straight. Its tight turns tend to favour agile, well‑balanced horses rather than long‑striding types. The jumps course includes eight easy fences or five hurdles per circuit.

Catterick's most prominent races are the North Yorkshire Grand National in January and the Catterick Dash over five furlongs in October. The course has also produced notable winners early in their careers, including Collier Hill and Red Rum.
