Alpha Magic ran out winner of the Tennent's Lager Handicap at Ayr this afternoon for owner Andrew Pollock and Bruisers Boys.

The home-bred son of Ardad is a half-brother to ten-time winner Where's Jeff and recorded his third career win with his victory in Scotland.

Connor Beasley was the winning jockey having replaced Billy Garritty who would have been a pound over weight and the partnership ran out winners by half a length at odds of 11/1.

Alpha Magic is the latest winner bred from broodmare Piece Of Magic and we have his yearling full brother here at the yard having come in for pre-training earlier in the week.

Stanage

Garritty gained consolation in the following race as Stanage ended a long losing run by taking the San Miguel Handicap to complete a drinks-themed double for the stable.

Stanage's last win came in March 2025 at Doncaster, but the son of Kingman showed he retains his ability and advertised his well-being for the sales at the end of the month.

Garritty was winning on his first ever ride aboard the Nick Bradley owned gelding and gave him a fabulous ride, collaring favourite Empirestateofmind in the shadow of the post with third placed Ashen left toiling four lengths adrift.

You can watch the race here.
