The turf season comes to a close at York on Saturday as we send Spirit Of Acklam to the Knavesmire for Sky Bet Extra Places Handicap the over the Ebor trip.

Fortune hasn't favoured us here as our horse has been handed stall 15 of the 15 available. However, the ground is in his favour as the son of Cracksman loves an easy surface.

Joanna Mason has ridden Spirit Of Acklam to three of his four career wins, and will be in the saddle again. She recorded her 50th winner of the season earlier this week and both horse and jockey are in fine form.

Spirit Of Acklam will be returning to York for the first time since making his debut in August 2023 and the Knavesmire should suit his running style.

William Haggas's Divine Knight looks a danger and comes off the back of a win at Yarmouth, whilst Alfred Winchman ran well last time at Doncaster and reproduction of that form would see him involved here over a longer trip.
