We make the short journey to York on Saturday where Billy Garritty, Lewis Chalkley and Jimmy Sullivan take the rides.
Eligible is a regular at York and he lines up for the one mile handicap where he will be ridden by seven pound claimer Lewis Chalkley. The veteran has recorded 12 wins from 72 starts but has been below par since reeling off a hat-trick in December and January. Raised a stone for his efforts on the all weather, his record is better on all weather tracks than turf. Last time finished he finished tenth of 20 at York and he now steps up from seven furlongs to a mile, a trip which he stays out without any problem.
Shes Got A Brother is improving all the time and after two all weather wins and two good runs in handicaps and she was fifth in a Listed race at Ayr, beaten just a length and three quarters by Argentine Tango. Raised five pounds for her trouble, this time she races without a hood. Billy Garritty rides.
Draupnir has one win and four places from 10 starts and takes a big step up in trip to 1m6f after finishing third of eight at Hamilton. He's bred to be an out and out stayer and the trip should hold no fears. His sole win came on soft ground but he finished second on good to firm at Beverley last year. Any rain would be in his favour. Draupnir will be ridden by Billy Garritty.
Von Trotter steps up to six furlongs in the Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Sprint Handicap. He's been disappointing in handicaps since finishing runner up in his first three races and the handicapper has given him a chance by dropping him four pounds this week and he gets into the race on bottom weight. Given his featherweight in the race we've booked Jimmy Sullivan to ride.
At Chester there's also Saturday racing and we send The Resdev Scholar to The Roodee for the Katie O'Brien's Irish Taverns Handicap. A three-time winner in 2025 the son of Mehmas ran well at Chester last time when runner up to Miss Lady Grace, but he'll encounter quicker ground this time. The Resdev Scholar's three wins last term came on an easy surface and the drying ground at Chester will prove a different proposition.
