Popular sprinter King Of The Jungle recorded his sixth career victory this afternoon.
On a warm and sunny day at Ayr the six-year-old followed up his easy win at Beverley to make it back to back wins by taking the Unite John Gillespie Celebration Handicap in western Scotland.
Billy Garritty was riding his 51st winner for the yard after racking up the half century earlier in the week as the 4/1 third favourite defeated 66/1 shot Great Profit by a length and a quarter with the 6/5 favourite Ski Angel a neck further back.
King Of The Jungle was conceding weight all round after top-weight Henery Hawk became the third non-runner just 50 minutes before the race, reducing the field to just eight after the morning defections of Supremissy and Bonito Cavalo following heavy overnight rain which had eased the ground to soft, good to soft in places.
King Of The Jungle originally raced for the Mick & David Easterby 100 Club, but was bought back from Tattersalls sales in October 2023 and has since become a regular winner.
