Monday racing: Shimmering Sands and Knicks at Pontefract

There's evening racing at Pontefract on Monday and we have two runners at the West Yorkshire track.

First up is Knicks in the Napoleons Casino Bradford Apprentice Handicap. In-form apprentice Lewis Chalkley takes the ride and having ridden 14 career winners is not eligible to claim under the race conditions.

Knicks is on a long losing run, having last been successful at Chester in 2024, but he's run some good races and is now 11 pounds below his last winning mark.

Shimmering Sands has been off the track since last November when he finished fourth at Newcastle. He's nine pounds below his last winning mark of 72, from which he was successful at Doncaster back in 2023. He's on an 18 race losing run and it'll be the job of Joanna Mason to try and help the three-time winner to recapture his form of old.
