We send five horses to West Yorkshire on Tuesday as the season kicks off at Pontefract Park.

The Every Raceday Is Autism Friendly At Pontefract Novice Stakes features two runners from the yard as Milford Grange makes his second racecourse appearance whilst Davenport Lass makes her debut. The only horse with a BHA rating is Showtown, who sets the standard with a handicap mark of 74. Spaceman was runner up on his sole start last year and is a likely improver as a three-year-old.

Milford Grange, who will be ridden by Billy Garritty, looks a horse with potential having finished third of eight, beaten two lengths by Harswell Angel, on his debut at Redcar in October. The fourth and fifth in that race have both finished second since and the winner was rated 78, so it may have been a decent contest.

We are also double-handed in the second race on the card as August Spring and Pop The Question tackle the Boyzlife Live At Ponte Friday 22nd May Maiden Stakes. August Spring needs to find a big improvement to feature having been tailed off last time at Southwell. he's yet to get competitive having raced in a bumper and two all weather races. Pop The Question made her flat debut last month at the age of eight and the former winning point-to-pointer will be ridden by Joanna Mason on her flat turf debut, Both horses have their work cut out here, as the race features the 100-rated Arabian Desert to whom August Spring must concede a 15 pound weight for age allowance. As a mare, Pop The Question's concession will be 11 pounds.

Trucial Pearl will represent our 50 Club in the Pontefract OAP Free Day Tuesday 21st April Handicap and we expect there to be plenty of Club members in attendance. The three-year-old has been in good form on the all weather this year and was unlucky not to lose her maiden status when a fast finishing runner up at Chelmsford last month. She's since finished third at Newcastle and retains the visor. We'll see how she gets along back on turf.
