It's been a life-changing week for three-year-old gelding Your Baby's Eyes.
On Sunday he retired from racing after finishing down the field at Southwell, and at midday today he left the yard for his forever home in Lincolnshire.
Born with a slight twist in his pastern it was a miracle to get Baby to the racecourse. He made his debut in a bumper at Market Rasen and then ran three times on the flat, his best effort being when finishing fifth at Newcastle.
On Monday we put Baby into our rehoming scheme and we couldn't have hoped for things to go more smoothly. He found his new home after just one day and he'll enjoy his retirement with his new owner Helen.
"He will be having the greatest gift any ex-racehorse can have, time, peace and kindness," says his new owner Helen. "He will be sharing eight acres with a little play pond and amazing grass, haylage and hay, with my beautiful Quarry Rebel (Oscar) and my New Forest four-year old-brothers. They are still very playful so Baby will get to play but he will also get some adulting from Oscar. He will keep them all in line. I plan to let him grow and chillout over winter and I'll start his new life in spring or when he's ready."
"I'm going to start him hacking and will ask very few questions of him. He will then be able to start going out and looking at a general fun horsey life. I will let him show me what he loves the most, then that will be his thing. He will never be forced into something he doesn't enjoy. He's my boy and not a machine and I will always love him."
