Earlier this year we retired broodmare Ringaround from her duties in the paddocks. We made her available for rehoming and she made a short trip north to a lovely farm near Coxwold to be a companion horse.

Ringaround's new owner Bryony messsaged us today with an update on the 19-year-old mare's progress.

"She's doing a fab job of looking after her companion when I'm out with the other horse," says Bryony. "They've become the best of friends. Unfortunately it's been absolutely horrendous weather so I've brought them in to the barn till it settles down!"

"I put all three of them in together and they get on like a house on fire. She's a lovely lovely mare, very affectionate and loving part of the family".

Ringaround has had plenty of caring experience in her career as a broodmare and she was a great mum to several foals, some of whom are here at New House Farm and ready to go into training. To become a companion horse in her later years is a perfect job for the daughter of Karinga Bay who retired from racing way back in 2012.

We all love to see the horses happy and enjoying life after their racing or broodmare careers and Ringaround is proving that you're never too old for a new start!
